The Carey Conference Center combines 50 years of tradition with 21st Century convenience and technology to make your gathering productive as well as enjoyable. Returning guests will find the same friendly ambiance provided by our predecessor in hosting nearly a half a century of successful conferences, retreats, meetings and planning sessions. Our campus remains as distraction-free and inviting as ever—located on an historic 100-acre estate overlooking Myosotis Lake with rolling hills in the foreground and the Catskill Mountain peaks beyond.

But we’ve added a few subtle upgrades, like state-of-the-art voice, wireless and data network, that will help you strategize, plan, achieve, teach, discuss, and learn.

We have nearly 10,000 square feet of flexible indoor meeting and breakout space. Our conference space can be configured to accommodate a wide variety of participants, from as few as 10 to as many as 180. Our residences hold nearly 100 guests comfortably for one or more nights. Regardless of format, guests are welcomed with outstanding service during their stay at the Carey Conference Center and depart – often reluctantly – with their mission accomplished. Many groups return over and over, drawn by our welcoming and cooperative staff and our restaurant’s sumptuous menu, changed seasonally to take advantage of locally-sourced food produced on nearby farms.

We strive to be as environmentally safe and friendly as possible. Our restaurant staff makes great efforts to prepare our food in an environmentally-friendly manner—eschewing plastics and non-recyclables whenever possible.

Our beautiful campus makes the Carey Conference Center the ideal venue for social events and weddings. We are especially successful with destination weddings, family and alumni reunions and retreats. Guests often remark they’d never been to a weekend wedding as special as those that take place at our campus.

Our pastoral setting offers many options for bracing or relaxed walks in between meetings. Our campus is situated amid the trails of the 2000-acre Edmund Niles Huyck Nature Preserve, putting our guests in touch with the inspiring vistas and diverse ecology of the Helderberg Mountains. Guests can swim in or boat on the preserve’s Lake Myosotis, just steps from the Carey Center. One popular stroll takes you along the Ten-Mile creek as it tumbles down a series of waterfalls from Lake Myostis and rushes through the middle of the tiny village of Rensselaerville with its beautifully restored Greek Revival and federal style houses.
